How to Buy High Heels for a Child
Proper Fitting
One basic thing which you should take care while purchasing the shoes is not only the looks, you should also concentrate about its fitting. Children’s feet normally grow with their age. So, it is very important to notice their shoe size after some periods. You should first measure their both feet while purchasing the shoe for them. You should check that the heel which should not be very high so that they feel uncomfortable. They should have nice snug fit. It is always better to go for shopping in the evening time because at that time their foot is completely swollen. This is a best idea and it can give you best idea of their correct size of the shoes.
Construction of shoes
You should provide your children with nice footwear which should supportive as well. You should concentrate on strong and sturdy shoes. Strength of the heel should be good and with arch support. From the first time when it is worn you should feel comfortable. You should also choose a material of the shoe which can breathe well. If possible, you should try to avoid high heels for the children.
Quality of the shoes
One of the best things which you should do is you should stick to the quality of the shoes. Try to purchase the shoes from the well known company. You should select the shoes which are very smooth and it should also have shock absorbing sole. It is always preferred to have non-marking outer sole. The shoes which are selected should keep your child’s feet cool and dry.
So, when you are planning to purchase footwear for child then it is very important to have correct decision. One of the biggest problems is Heel pain which can normally occur to any age person. It can be little bit changing between adults and children. Even the treatment of this is also different for the adults and for children. When a question comes to child you should correctly diagnose the source of heel pain with the help of expert. You child should not feel any kind of heel pain because it causes the strain and they may not feel comfortable with their footwear. They can also neglect to wear the same next time. Your child can suffer from heel pain if they are having flat feet. But, it is not at all common in all the children. It can be caused by arch fatigue of the flat feet. This can happen only after standing for a small period of time. It is possible to reduce the same with some kind of stretch exercise and prescription. This can easily help your child to get relief from this condition. So, while selecting high heel shoes you should take certain things in your mind.
Global Footwear Market Athletic and non Athletic Shoes
Footwear is a huge and increasingly diversified business, driven by a host of demographic, lifestyle and fashion trends. As a result, the category is being segmented ever more finely as seen in the diversity of mainstream footwear trends—from casual comfort to sexy stiletto, and the fact that, in recent years, a far greater range of styles has become acceptable in the U.S. workplace. The liberalization of footwear norms coincided with an era of greed and seemingly endless conspicuous consumption where $150 sneakers and $500 pumps were easily consumed with ever-expanding consumer credit.
However, with a new economic reality comes a paradigm shift in the consumer mindset. For some consumers, charge now and pay later has been replaced with pay now or don’t buy at all. Instead of feeling good about expensive or ostentatious brands as they have in the past, many consumers will increasingly feel good about getting the best value, making the smartest choice, or not spending at all in 2009. The surge in frugality has brought back a variety of money-saving behaviors from days of yore, such as layaway and home cooked meals. Even cobblers are all making a comeback.
Though the market for footwear in the U.S. grew at an annual rate of six percent between 2004 and 2008, growth in 2008 was much more subdued at less than two percent. For the footwear industry, an ongoing consumer paradigm shift in attitudes towards more frugality and less conspicuous consumption means high-flying fashion brands may suffer at the expense of less expensive alternatives. But can the major marketers and retailers adapt?
The U.S. Market for Footwear examines these questions and many others by looking at the current market, trends, major brands, and consumer preferences. The report presents concise, thought provoking analysis of various aspects of the eyewear industry and provides a forecast for the market through 2013.

Essential items for Spring 2010
1. Accessories are a great way to quickly and cheaply update your look, and are great for those on a budget. It’s time to put your winter woolies away and invest in a lightweight bright print scarf. This will freshen up your look and will work with casual jeans, skirts, and dresses.
2. Keep out the chilly weather with a cosy cashmere sweater. Easter egg shades are cute for spring, so invest in pale yellows, pinks, lilacs and minty green hues. You’ll be as pretty as a picture.

6. The stripey Breton top is a fashion must have. This top was pioneered by the queen of fashion herself, Miss Coco Chanel, and was inspired by the French sailors she used to see. It has since become a bit of a cult item and has definitely earned its fashion stripes. Fans of the Breton top span many decades and include the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Edie Sedgwick, Jane Birkin, Debbie Harry, Patti Smith and more recently Kirstin Dunst, Kate Moss, Kylie Minogue and Alexa Chung.
Dreamboats and Petticoats
As the hit musical ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ hits the West End London, critics have gone wild for 50’s and 60’s fashion. It was a time of innocence and fun, which was both reflected in the fashion and the music of the swinging decade.
Its fashion even your granny will adore, and will snare you an armful of admirers, all willing to take you to the local American diner for a shake.
It’s girly, flirty, fun and feminine all at the same time. Begin by choosing a flattering halter neck top with a sweetheart neckline. If you’re feeling sexy you could shimmy your way into a skin tight pencil skirt, and finish with a waist belt to create a full hour glass figure.
For a more casual look, denim pedal pushers and a cropped sleeveless shirt teamed with flirty high heel pumps makes a great look. Accessorise with a chic neck tie and shades.
If you’re off to the hop or twisting the night away you can’t go wrong with a full petticoat and an all in one swishy dress. Polka dots are a great choice of print and bows, cute ankle socks and pearls help to complete your retro look.
Set your rollers to work, as no self respecting 60’s girl would set foot outside her door with flat lifeless hair. Backcomb your locks for extra bounce and finish with a slick of red lipstick.
it’s time to brighten up your winter wardrobe
The beginning of the new season means it’s time to brighten up your winter wardrobe. Cast the downbeat, dull shades of black, brown and navy-blue you’ve been hiding in during the dark, winter months to the back of your closet and let a more playful palette move in. Inject some colour this spring with a range of yummy candy coloured shades. This spring is all about fun. It’s fresh, innocent and girlie with a grown up twist.
Look good enough to eat by wearing a range of strawberry pinks, lemonade yellows, playful coral and peach hues, minty greens and tangerine tones. Coloured denim is a hot look for spring, but may seem a little daunting to wear, especially if the last time you wore it you were playing in a sandpit! The key is to tone it down with clean, fresh whites and bring in bright funky accessories to complement your new capsule wardrobe.
If you’re colour shy, you can still indulge in a little colour therapy by choosing bright candy cane shades of accessories. Candy coloured watches have made an appearance on the catwalk and are everywhere on the high street, pick a rainbow hue to add a sugary sweet touch to any outfit. A complimentary pair of shoes completes your look, and can instantly refresh and update your favourite pair of denims. Add a pop of colour with a fresh and funky bright ballet flat, or if you prefer a bit of height a bright patent pair of heels. A matching clutch and an on trend, light coloured blazer complete your sugary sweet spring look.
McQueen puts his stamp on the fashion scene
British fashion designer, Alexander McQueen was found dead in his plush London apartment on 11th February 2010, just 9 days after his mother’s death. Renowned for his crazy sculptural fashion creations, particularly his stunning accessories, McQueen was the rebel of the fashion scene. His wild imagination envisaged fantasy, and brought it alive through his creative designs.
McQueen boasted celebrity clients such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Kate Moss to name just a few, but he was known to shun the limelight and had a certain disregard for the celebrity circuit. Along with his celebrity clients, he had an abundance of fans across the globe, all of whom agree that Alexanda McQueen changed the face of fashion forever.
Mcqueen’s most recent design was worn by Lady Gaga in her video ‘Bad Romance’. A visual spectacle, she wore a stunning shoe boot that was dubbed both the ‘Armadillo’ shoe and the ‘Lobster Claw’ by the press. These chunky, platform shoe boots have since set the world of fashion alight. They have now been produced in a multitude of flamboyant designs.
Since their debut on the feet of Gaga, these chunky heels have paraded up and down catwalks all over the world. They have been sighted in a variety of exquisite and luxurious prints and colours. Spectators were able to feast their eyes on a particularly striking, rich green snakeskin design as well as a pair that resembled a plume of beautiful peacock’s feathers.
Vibrant emerald blue tones have been favoured by fans as the most visually appealing pair and were picked out amongst a sea of metallic hues. The single pair that drew the most publicity was the pair in a delicate nude shade that was smattered in a stunning abundance of kaleidoscopic jewels and 3D appliqué. It was a sad day for fashion and Sexy shoes pays tribute to Alexander McQueen, a modern day fashion genius.
When I grow up I want to be…….a ballet dancer!
Every little girl dreams of being a ballerina, their first pointe shoes and more importantly of walking and dancing elegantly en-pointe. Sadly however, many don’t quite make it to these dizzy new heights and lose interest once they actually try and cram their foot into these shoes. Stuffed with cotton wool and fastened for dear life, the art of moving around en-pointe is a lot harder than it looks and, if not done properly can make you look incredibly clumsy rather than elegant and beautiful.
Many girls give up on their ballerina dreams out of sheer frustration, and hang up their pointe shoes. The inevitable result is regretful hindsight and a longing to be given that chance again.
The bitterness, frustration and disappointment of not being able to walk in them has been long forgotten. Until now, pointe shoes symbolised innocent aspiration. Now, the pointe shoe has grown up and gone all kinky on us.
Sculptural shoes have made their appearance on the catwalk in music videos and have recently been featured in various fashion magazines. They take ‘skyscraper heels’ to a whole new level and literally have you tottering around like a ballerina en-pointe due to their extremely high, eye wateringly thin, stiletto heel. The heel makes you put almost all of your weight onto your toes and so allow you to finally live out your ballerina dreams.
Originally designed for bedroom play, they quickly became a fetish object. In particular, they were usually worn during sessions of bondage and submission. By stepping into these heels you aren’t able to move very fast, and may even fall over and have to crawl on all fours! Or perhaps, the pain brings out the masochist in your partner.
For all you fashionistas out there, ballerina fetish heels are making their way to a high street near you, and are set to be a hot look for summer 2010. So girls, it’s time to whip your pointe shoes out and get practicing. You have been warned.
Interview with Annette Betté Kellow
We caught up with the fabulous Annette Betté Kellow, a vintage cabaret performer come dancer who has recently become a model a la vintage. We wanted to find out just where her passion for old school glamour emanated from, as well as her love for shoes and the world of burlesque...
So Annette, how did you get into the world of vintage cabaret?
I started studying burlesque after I finished drama school. It seemed like a natural path to take as I have always had a great admiration for vintage dance and a passion for old Hollywood costumes. I particularly admire Moro Landis and MGM movie attire.
Do you choose your own stage outfits?
I have a collection of old costumes that I got from a source in America. They had been featured on all the old movies and musicals from the 40’s to early 60’s and the costumes are truly a work of art! - They’re simply stunning and I feel so lucky to own them.
Who would you say inspires your style, both on and off stage?
Glamour and the golden era! I think people like Rita Hayworth, Audrey Hepburn and Dior are fabulous. And I believe cities like Paris and New York epitomize femininity, elegance and style.
Do you have any secret fashion tips?
For ‘cheap chic' Marks and Spencer’s do a great selection of fitted pencil dresses. This is what I would class as the foundation to much of my style because they always look good and you can wear them during the day and out at night.
Also, it’s very important to accessorise your look; although it’s so easy to forget amongst the busy rush of day-to-day life. To adorn a great pair of earrings and bright lipstick is simple enough, but it can transform your look instantly!
My make up essential has to be…red lipstick! Anyone can wear it; you just have to find the right shade for you.
Last but not least, a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes, so how many do you own?
At one point I did own 50 plus, but now I’ve got it down to about 38 pairs. The majority of my shoes are 50s style heels with a peep toe, but I do have a couple of spangley sky scrapers as they’re great for parties!
