Spring 2010 Shoe Trends

January has got to be one of the toughest times of the year in London. Christmas is over, the lights are coming down, and you’ve gone from wearing your winter boots in to feeling as run down as they look. It’s cold, freezing cold, you have a strong will to hole up and hibernate until April comes round, and you have the heart wrenching challenge of trying to lose the Bentley Belt you acquired over the festive season.

Just when you think all hope is gone however, we know something that will bring a ray of sunshine into your wintery life, a much needed spark of colourful happiness that will have you daydreaming about long, lazy afternoons in the park or wiggling your toes in a sandy beach paradise somewhere off the coast of Mexico. Spring shoe trends are bold, colourful, cheerful and definitely enough to get you motivated for the warmer days that are not actually that far off.

This spring, you can expect shoes and heels to dazzle and wow, to inspire and motivate. Think flirty, think feminine but with a twist of floral funk that will leave you refreshed and delighted. Here are a few trends to look for this spring, so make sure that you start keeping your eyes peeled in order to be on top form the second the sun peeps over the horizon.

Floral Yourself Pretty

Anything floral this spring is going to be a biggie. From clothing prints, to accessories to shoes, floral prints, flower additions to shoes and accessories and floral designs are going to be colourfully celebrating spring this year. Some designers seem to have embraced it more than others, but the bottom line is that pretty, feminine flowers in a fresh and colourful spectrum of colours are going to be all over shoes this spring. From floral heels, floral buckles, floral printed leather to vine like calf straps and massive, slightly over the top flower accessories. This is one time you don’t have to wait for your guy to spoil you with flowers…

Tips for Choosing Sexy High Heel Shoes

When Choosing a Pair of Shoes:

1. Try and choose shoes that have reasonably flexible soles and that have good gripping surfaces. There is no point looking like a cat on a hot tin roof on a glam night out.

2. Make sure the in soles are properly cushioned; if they aren’t there are amazing products available on the market that are not expensive at all

3. So you’ve seen that gorgeous pair of high heel shoes you love and you just got to have it, but sadly the shop assistant/website informs you that it’s out of stock in your size, but they do have it available in one size smaller. Don’t do it! If you want happy feet, then there is no use in hoping that the materials will somehow stretch. This is more than likely not going to be the case and those gorgeous high heels shoes will end up forgotten in the back of your shoe cupboard.

4. Try this tip that not a lot of people are aware of. When buying shoes on the High Street, try and do it late in the afternoon as the shoes will have naturally swollen to their optimum size

5. There must be enough room for you to wiggle our toes, remember that when trying on shoes.

Where to Buy High Heels

Some of the best places to buy high heels shoes are on the high street, online or ordering from catalogues in the comfort of your own home. Many people these days indulge in a little bargain hunting in charity shops, but if second hand shoes aren’t your thing, then the best place to get truly original shoes that suit your needs would be online. http://www.high-heel-shoes.co.uk/ is a good website to go and have a look at, as it is user-friendly and ideal if you don’t have a lot of time to go shoe shopping on the high street.

High Heels on the Catwalk vs. High Heels on the High Street

We live in a fashion era where it is okay for your shoes to sometimes outshine the rest of your outfit. Where our parents would never run around in a pair of red shoes that didn’t match the rest of their outfits, we make bright elaborate high heel shoes the feature of our outfits... remember the 80’s? The era of matching nails varnish and shoes? Thank god that’s over!
It’s very exciting to see people taking fashion into their owns hands too, and not being influenced by what’s happening on the catwalks. Although the ranges displayed on the catwalks are brilliant and truly inspired, people are starting to see that you don’t have to spend an arm and a leg to get fabulous pair of high heel shoes.

No Heels vs. High Heels

There is no contest here! High heel shoes are a definite winner if the prize should go to the most fashionable. There is just something about a woman wearing a fabulous pair of high heel shoes that elevates her above the rest. However you can’t beat the comfort factor when it comes to a nice pair of flat pumps and to be fair you get gorgeous flats that look great. When it comes to flats you have to concentrate more on your outfit though, where a pair of pumps can pretty much make any outfit.

Celebrities and High Heel Shoes

Nothing is as synonymous with fashion as the high heel shoe. At any given moment, women around the world are putting on high heel shoes and stepping out onto the street. Whether they’re going to work, on a date or a job interview, the majority of woman will agree that they put on high heel pumps or sandals for a reason - that reason being to stand out from the crowd.

Celebrities and their High Heels

Celebs have always been the forerunners when it comes to shoe fashions and these days’ people such as Sarah Jessica Parker, Posh and Dita von Teese dazzle us with their immaculate taste and their sometimes controversial fashion choices. Just like the majority of us, these women understand the magic of a sexy pair of shoes. Who doesn’t love SJP’s amazing style in Sex and the City and, let’s be honest, this show will remain in all fashion lover’s hearts for ages to come. It represented a break from the norm, especially when it comes to high heel shoes. Other stars that have also recently impressed at red carpet events are Kate Winslet, Kiera Knightley and Victoria Beckham, which just means that a classic pump can also be very, very sexy. Wasn’t it the Brits that introduced high heel pumps to the world in 1904?

How to Steal Pink’s Style: Alecia Beth Moore

How to Steal Pink’s Style: Alecia Beth Moore

Alecia Beth Moore or Pink, as she is more commonly known as, stands out as one of the most confident and inspirational female singer/songwriters today, especially during a time that the music market is saturated with all the one-hit-wonder, modern day pop-stars. This isn’t only because of her powerful, sometimes controversial songs, but also due to her radical style and her don’t-care attitude towards life. Pink’s message is clear in one of her latest songs “So What”. Nobody fills the shoes of a modern day poster girl for free thinking women more than Pink.
Alecia Beth Moore
Pink is a fashion and style pioneer and is certainly not scared of breaking with convention, pushing the boundaries and creating her own unique style. This couldn’t be illustrated more clearly by the fact that she was the one who proposed to husband, Carey Hart and not the other way around! There is no way this star, with her bodacious body, tattoos, outrageous hair and attitude, will go unnoticed at any event. Pink is guaranteed to make an entrance not only because she’s always wearing super high heeled shoes, but also because she has built up a style reputation over the years that is highly anticipated by all her fans and the media when she steps out onto the red carpet. She always gives people something to look forward to, and whether it be her clothes, shoes or make-up, women all over the world view Pink as a style inspiration.

Pink’s style isn’t always about sticking with one look. Her versatility and ability to look good in almost everything, from vintage gowns to outrageously high stiletto shoes or punk attire, makes her a true style icon.

In her latest, and hysterical, music video for the smash hit ‘So What’, Pink as usual manages to parade high fashion outfits combined with her typical punky, glam rock style. To get her glam rock chic look, follow these easy tips.

Hair

Let’s face it, her hair has been all the colours of the rainbow, but her latest platinum blond pixie cut looks fabulous. It is best to go to a stylist if you want to change the colour of your hair, especially if you are looking at making it lighter (as in platinum blonde). Many do-it-yourself products can damage your hair, especially if you don’t know what you are doing, or worse still leave you with a rather undesirably colour. For curly hair it’s best to keep those tresses in tone with a wax-like styling ingredient.

Make-up
Alecia Beth Moore
FACE: Use a foundation that will blend into your face and hide any blemishes. You want to mirror her smooth and spotless complexion. Make sure you choose the right shade to create the perfect canvas.

CHEEKS: Apply blusher to the apples of your cheeks, stroking upwards towards your ears to accentuate those cheek bones. Try to keep the blusher as light as possible and if possible, use one with brightening qualities.
EYES: Create the perfect “smoky eye” by applying white matte eye shadow over the entire lid followed by charcoal colour shadow at the base of the lid. Finish of with mascara and eyeliner.
LIPS: Luscious red, need we say more.

Accessories

Get yourself some massive rock star sunglasses. The bigger the better and don’t worry, if you’re using Pink as inspiration, big sunglasses will never be out of fashion. No matter what colour! Huge bangles and neck scarves are a great way to spruce up any outfit Pink-style too. To further mirror her look, combine soft feminine clothing with punk accessories like zippers, studs, chunky bangles, etc.

From Sneakers to Heels, Lily Allen’s Fashion Metamorphosis

Lily Allen burst onto the music scene in 2006 with the release of her first single, Smile, and her debut album, Alight, Still. Not only was she making a name for herself as a talented female musician, but she was also gaining recognition of having a very distinct, bold and daring fashion style.

We all remember the days she paired chunky sneakers instead of a pair of high heels with summery dresses, wore massive hoop earrings and piles of make up. She created the glam chav rock style, and can be accredited for it today. Her style matched her attitude, which was loud, brash and outspoken. Throw in some booze, a thick cut fringe, attack a celebrity and you’ve got the then emerging stars’ characteristics down to a tee.
Lily Allen’s
As Lily has grown though, as a person, celebrity and musician, so has her sense of fashion. From chunky sneakers, bad hair days and a naïve approach to fashion, she has transformed into a woman, but managed to keep her retro, personal style in tact. Now demonstrating “correct” footwear such as a pair of designer high heels with dresses as well as some chic outfits Lily has come a long way with her style.
